Countless celebrities, politicians, writers, actors and athletes have stayed at the Parker House over the decades, and wined and dined there too.
With that illustrious history in mind, we talked with Dave Ritchie, marketing director of the Omni Parker House and lifelong Sox fan, to learn more about the hotel’s Omni Baseball Package.
First of all, who are some of the famous Red Sox who came through the Parker House?
Babe Ruth and Ted Williams did press conference in our historic Press Room, and also dined regularly at the Parker Restaurant. They were attracted to the restaurant’s culinary excellence, and our unique specialties like the Boston Crème Pie, Parker House Rolls and Scrod, which we invented!
Your Boston Red Sox Baseball Package includes two tickets to a Red Sox game and a luxurious hotel room at the Omni Parker House? What kind of fans book the package?
People come from local towns and from all over the globe to stay at the Omni Parker House to come see the Red Sox. We have some regular fans from Scotland who come two or three times a year to see the team.
What’s the farthest distance someone has traveled that you’ve met at the
hotel?
Australia.
What’s your favorite memory of Fenway Park growing up in the Boston area?
My favorite memory is walking up into Fenway Park for the first time with my Dad when I was eight years old. I remember being amazed at the colors of the green grass and the brightly colored uniforms of both the Red Sox and Oakland Athletics as we walked up the ramp to see the field for my first time in person.
